The Children's Ministry teaches kids from 3 years of age through 5th grade about the amazing love God has for each of his children. During the summer we give our fabulous Sunday School teachers much deserved time off. Combined children's classes meet during the 9:45 am service. The nursery is open during all three services for infants up to age 4.
Throughout the year lots of fun events are held, including Trunk or Treat, Christmas Musical, Easter Egg Hunt, and Vacation Bible School.

The Morning Star Choir, under the direction of Lynda Smith, practices weekly from September through May, and sings regularly at the 11:15 worship service. The Choir also prepares a special musical presentation for the Advent season. The Choir meets every Thursday evening from September through May.
The Morning Star Bell Choir, under the direction of Mardy Mahaffey, practices weekly and plays regularly on Sunday mornings and at special events. The Bell Choir meets Monday evenings September through May.
There are many opportunities to participate in music and worship at Morning Star.
Hand Bell Choir meets Monday evenings at 7:00 pm from late August through May.

Morning Star Small Group ministries focus on Adult Christian Education (ACE). ACE is based on the conviction that learning is a life long pursuit that can be celebrated through fellowship and commitment to biblical scholarship. MSUMC Small Groups are designed around the principle of biblically based spiritual growth that engages the head and the heart.
Groups Start at 5:30 p.m.
Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. (To Go Boxes Available)

United Methodism 101, facilitated by Greg Armfield. This interactive course blends audiovisual aids and written materials for those who want to increase their understanding of United Methodism. The discussions will cover: The history of the United Methodist Church, underlying theology and foundations of basic beliefs, organization and structure of the denomination, and present and future challenges faced by all United Methodists. Meets in Room 105.
Single and Parenting, facilitated by Pat Keever and Kathy Liello. If you’re a single parent, you’re probably tired, overwhelmed and feeling a bit underappreciated. Single and Parenting will share tips and parenting wisdom that helps you find rest, hope, and encouragement. You’ll participate in video seminars that help explain how to: 1) Wisely encourage your kids to obey, 2) Help your hurting child, 3) Eliminate debt, and 4) Deal with verbal onslaughts. Plus, you’ll develop meaningful friendships with other single parents, who, like you, might be tired of hectic mornings and chaotic evenings, the kids fighting, and a never-ending to-do list. Meets in Room 102.
Caring for Inactive Members: How to Make God’s House a Home, facilitated by Fran Boldt. This study equips course participants to relate to inactive members in respectful, kind, gentle ways—conveying the love of Christ and welcoming them back into the life of the church. Meets in Room 104.
Practical Spanish, taught by Kenneth Daves. Learn basic tools that will give you the foundation to continue to learn Spanish on your own. Classes will be very interactive and each participant will have many opportunities to speak Spanish with others and use the language they have been taught. Come if you know UN POQUITO or even if you know NADA. Meets in Room 101.
She’s Gonna Blow!, facilitated by Sarah Veeder and Tracy Bennett. This book study is for you if... you tell yourself “I am not going to get angry again and loose my temper with my children.” Yet again, you find yourself losing your temper only to be left with a sense of guilt and despair. Also, if you are struggling with the joys of parenting and/or how to enjoy your children this study is for you. She's Gonna Blow! is for every mom seeking here-and-now hope and help to: • Find healthier ways of expressing anger • Let go of "control" issues and be more positive • Draw closer to the God who created moms and mothering Meets in Room 106.

Bible Bash, led by Rev. Travis Bennett. A high intensity and energetic approach to learning the Bible for kids using games and activities. Ages First to Fifth Grade. Meets in Room 103.

GRIEF RECOVERY SUPPORT GROUP
YOUR JOURNEY FROM MOURNING TO JOY
If you’ve lost someone close to you or know someone who has, Grief Share is a special weekly support group which meets on Tuesdays at 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Morning Star United Methodist Church, 2941 Morning Star, room 105 (located on the northeast corner of Roadrunner and Morning Star). It is a place where you can join others who understand the pain of your loss. At Grief Share you will learn valuable information that will help you through this difficult time in your life. Call the church office at 521-3770 to register or for further information contact Jackie Maxon 915-525-2575 before attending as the groups suspends its meetings from time to time between sessions. Each session stands alone and workbooks at $15.00.

Christ Caring For People Through People Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus' command to love one another. Through one-on-one caring relationships, those who are hurting, receive the love and support they need.
A Stephen Minister… Provides one-on-one Christian care to those going through difficult life situations; protects the confidentiality of their caring relationship; is a layperson with 50 hours of caring ministry training; and is trustworthy, compassionate, skilled, and full of faith.
A Stephen Minister is not… A mental health professional, a social worker, a casual visitor, or a pastor.
