Children's Ministryclick to read more
The Children's Ministry teaches kids from 3 years of age through 5th grade about the amazing love God has for each of his children. During the summer we give our fabulous Sunday School teachers much deserved time off. Combined children's classes meet during the 9:45 am service. The nursery is open during all three services for infants up to age 4.
Throughout the year lots of fun events are held, including Trunk or Treat, Christmas Musical, Easter Egg Hunt, and Vacation Bible School.
During the month of October the children are invited to sit with their families in the sanctuary for Pastor Travis' sermon series, "Trying to Be a Hero." All are welcome to wear super hero costumes if so desired. (Childcare is available for kids ages 4 and under in Room 107 during all three worship services.)
On November 3 children's Sunday school will resume during the 9:45 a.m. service. From 9:45 to 9:55 am all preschool through 5th grade children are invited to "Rise and Shine" music and mini-sermon in Room 108. They will then be dismissed to the following classrooms: Preschoolers to Room 106; 1st and 2nd graders to Room 105; 2nd and 3rd graders to Room 103; 4th and 5th graders to Room 102. Please pick up your child from their classroom at the end of the service. We look forward to seeing your family this Sunday!
Rehearsals for the Children’s Christmas Pageant “ The Incredible Adam Angel” are held Wednesday afternoon from 4:30-5:30 and Sunday afternoon from 3:00-4:30. All children are welcome. The Christmas Pageant will be performed on December 8th at 5:00 pm followed by the 4th Annual Holiday Tasting Bee.

Small Groups Ministryclick to read more
Morning Star Small Group ministries focus on Adult Christian Education (ACE). ACE is based on the conviction that learning is a life long pursuit that can be celebrated through fellowship and commitment to biblical scholarship. MSUMC Small Groups are designed around the principle of biblically based spiritual growth that engages the head and the heart.
Sunday specific courses meet at 9:45AM and 11:15AM. In addition several small group opportunities exist for all life stages.
Wednesday nights in the fall and spring offer R.O.A.D. (Regular Opportunities for Activities and Discipleship). Each R.O.A.D. night begins with a potluck dinner at 5:30 PM followed by a devotional at 6:15PM and small groups that meet for an hour beginning at 6:30 PM.
Morning Star Hikers
This group has been hiking in the area since 2006. Over that time we have hiked on over 30 different trails in Las Cruces, Cloudcroft and Emory Pass areas. The group size varies from 2 to 20 and usually there are about 8 to 12 attending. Anyone is welcome whether they attend Morning Star or not.
Between October and April we hike most Saturdays, from May to September we will hike some in the "high" country avoiding the heat. These hikes are about once a month or so.
We tend to be a bit "old and slow" so our hikes are not fast ones. I try to describe the hike in terms of scenery, difficulty, and distance-time in an e-mail sent the week prior to the hike.
