- History of Morning Star UMC -

Here's a little bit of history for the curious:

Morning Star began in 1987 with Pastor Steve James and efforts by St. Paul's UMC and University UMC, along with El Calvario UMC, to plant another United Methodist Church in Las Cruces to reach the Northern I-25 Las Cruces corridor and the East Mesa of Las Cruces.

Pastor Steve James led Morning Star through its early years, meeting out Highway 70 at Budager's Nursery, and through its first building campaign (the construction of the present building).

Subsequent pastors included Lowell Swisher, Curtis Bentley, Bryan Simpson, and current pastor, Jon Moore.
